If you have read any of the forum threads in which I have been involved over the last couple of days -- and it's pretty hard to miss them -- you'll know that there are currently no plans to offer alternatives for the acquisition of the Bonus Mission Pack. It is a bonus intended for the in-game store. I have discussed this with sales and marketing and have let them know that players would very much like an alternative opportunity to purchase this through the in-game store. However, at this time, there's nothing to relay about any possible future options of this sort, with regret. --Gaile 17:19, 7 July 2007

To me that says buy it during the promotion or tough shit
you missed the bold on another part so i added it for you for emphasis of when that was posted

This is what I posted in the other thread about this, but I'll post it here too since it has more traffic:
Quote:
I believe most are upset about:
- I pay $29 for GW store stuff I don't want, just to get the $9.99 BMP that I do want (limited time offer, if you don't do it by this date too bad, so people buy so they don't miss out), only to find that now it's being offered for $9.99 -stand alone- (No other $29 need be spent on things you don't want just to get it)
- Personally, I think that's what people view as unfair. Those of us that already have it do realize that some had legitimate problems purchasing it the first time due to game store problems, but there are also some that didn't care for it and only cared after they saw the cool weapons. Either way, unhappy people on all sides.
- Therefore, if Anet still wants to go ahead with this re-release, then I think that it should at least be done as the original was. You have to buy $29 worth of game store stuff to get the BMP, instead of just a $9.99 stand alone.

I look forward to your thoughts.

No, you are not realistic...technicaly you are saying companies that make mistakes should stick by them, regardless of customer demand or input. Thats a pretty warped perspective to have just because you dont want other people to get the BMP. I'm tellin ya, the jealousy and player-hate in this game need to go.....and the people on this thread with thinly veiled excuses for why they are mad about the BMP being sold need to be more honest with themselves....you have had the BMP for months and are now mad cuz other people can have it too, diminishing the false sense of individualism you had while you had something the rest of us didnt or couldnt get.

QFT. I got GWEN online. I got the BMP with it. I payed NOTHING for BMP. just because some people made the bad choice of buying 3 unneeded character slots because they "needed" the box doesn't suddenly make the BMP cost $30.
Bad choice is a bad choice.

I bought GW:EN online and got the BMP with it. GW:EN was over 15 Euros cheaper in a retail store. Quit fooling yourselves.

This is hilarious. I can't believe you guys keep rolling out that "currently no plans" quote as Gailes big lie. It's not even close to a statement of exclusivity, since it clearly implies that they could make plans if they wanted to - and guess what, six months later they have! Woohoo, shocker.

I wonder, if some of you ever doubted a partner's commitment to a relationship and they told you they had no current plans to leave you - would that put your minds at rest?

In your neighborhood yes, not in mine...My copy of EOTN cost me way more at Wal-Mart than I would have had to spend online to qualify for the promo.

Another thing, if all yer bent about is like 10 or 20 bucks.... I spent that much last nite on delivery pizza that sucked, am I mad? not really 10-20 bucks is chump change, wont even hardly buy me a nite at the movies in my neck of the woods.

I'm happy for the people who either couldn't or just plain didn't bother getting it- this is great for them.

For me, well I bought GWEN the day it came out, I did it on the online store because I wanted the BMP. If I now think about it, compare prices etc. I could work out that I spent an extra 2 or 3 bucks. If I hadn't learned to roll with the loss of that amount of money in life many years ago I would be a pathetic person.

I do feel sorry for those who love the game so much they desperately had to have a cardboard box, and who THEN went out and spent money on character slots and other things they probably didn't need/want because they are completist enough to get the whole set.

But again.... in this life, you will lose some money. Often down the back of furniture.

The release of CE bonuses are not mistakes. I'm sorry you weren't around to get them, and now have to pay a fortune for them. Those things actually were LIMITED EDITION. A-Net specifically stated that they were going to release a limited amount and when they were gone, they were gone. The only one hating on this fact seems to be you.

$9.99 USD seems a bit pricey but it's better than permanently locking new players out of some of the most important historical events in Guild Wars' history. For those of us who spent $29 USD, we got a jump start to BMP so I don't feel cheated in the least. By the way, if you opened a new account through the in game store during the promotion, you've been able to play the Bonus Mission Pack since the end of October.

For you. It was the same around here for me. Don't think that prices are all the same.
If someone buys 3 character slots they better not say they payed $30 for the BMP. THAT is fooling yourself.
btw, I find it hard to believe a B&M store would sell GWEN for $11. I guess it's possible, but it sounds below cost.

Naw, just happy they changed their mind on BMP....just like I'l be happy if they change their mind on the other offers. A-net specifically said they did not "currently" have plans to do the BMP outside of the original promo, and when somebody tells me "currently" I am smart enough to realize that means later they might change their mind.

The only thing I am "hating" on here is really there is no real reason for anybody to be mad at GW selling the BMP, a couple reasons people have posted here are enough to be annoyed with, but not angry about. Really they should just sell all special content in the online store, this jive that the GW community goes thru over limited edition stuff that everybody wants and nobody can get is ridiculous.

Well if you knew how to read properly, it ACTUALLY says ***AT THIS TIME!**** which means at the time of writing, which ALSO means things COULD change. It NEVER said the BMP would NEVER be sold anywhere else.

Everybody had a chance to get it upon release. If you weren't around for the release, sorry to hear that. Also, Prophecies CE was like a leap of faith for most, because no one knew GW would be what it had become. It's particularly not fair to those people. Everyone had a chance to get the CE, if you didn't: tough luck.

I am on the side your on and on the side of others. I have two full accounts... and I still don't care. I only hear whining coming from a lot of people. I think there are better things to be pissed about.

When I respond to a flamer... lol... (funny)... I don't consider that flaming. I call that retaliation. Grow up. Is your gameplay going to be any different? Are you going to lose out on anything other than a case, which collects dust anyway? The BMP is just a small part of a good game. Be happy that some people out there can now enjoy it the same way you did. Stop attacking people who care about the game, and the games community. Those hateful and angry remarks are retarded.

Lastly, before you start blasting anet's decisions, you play "their" game for free every month. It costs a lot of money to provide you with free gameplay. And personally, I think they do a great job with providing top-notch and free quality service. Their game rocks... and I want to support the continuation of it. I stand behind their decisions entirely, unless they nerf a skill I like and I complain about them, like I do about a sibling. I love GW... and if you don't... play "Hello Kitty Island Adventure".

This is a game.

Eh, 10 bucks huh? There's going to be even more whining when they finally get it and realize they wasted $9.50
